What is a Wynne Tournament?

It is a friendly tournament at a premier tennis resort. Enjoy three nights/four days with your tennis teammates and friends in a relaxed atmosphere at the destination of your choice where the emphasis is on FUN! The weekend includes a competitive, non-elimination tournament, celebration cocktail party, accommodations, light fare and drinks throughout play, prizes, gifts, and awards.

How competitive is a Wynne Tournament?

Tournaments are based on a common set of players, 2.5/3.0, 3.5, and 4.0. Teams are made up of four players. Days one and two, everyone plays, rotating through the various teams. The tournament is meant to be competitive but not as strict as a USTA event. Most tennis players don’t get to participate in a USTA National Tournament. Our event is based on lots of play, fairness and FUN and the ability to play in a National Tournament without winning any local or regional play-offs.

What’s included in the Wynne Tournament registration fee?

A whole lot of fun!  A beautiful resort…a comfortable three-night stay...light fare throughout the day…a tennis clinic…celebration cocktail party…and of course a fun, exciting tennis tournament.

Do I have to pay the full registration fee at time of registration?

No…we require a down-payment of 50% of the registration fee at the time of registration. The additional 50% is required 45 days prior to the event.

Who arranges for Airfare?

Airfare is not covered by the Wynne Tournament registration fee. There are so many options and regional discount fares available today…it is more advantageous for you to provide your own mode of transportation.

Can we have four people to one resort room?

Yes, the hotel offers two to four guests to a room. Some resorts offer two-bedroom condo style accommodations while others offer traditional hotel rooms (king or doubles). Either type allows for four to sharing a room; however, the traditional hotel room will mean doubling up in beds. The minimum room occupancy is one and the maximum is four. The more occupants to a room will lower your individual Wynne Tournament registration fee.

Can I cancel once I have registered for a Wynne Tournament?

Yes, you can. Wynne Tournament actually books the rooms many months in advance. If you need to cancel, a full refund will be provided if requested prior to 45 days of the actual Wynne Tournament date. If the cancellation is requested 31 to 45 days prior to the event, a refund of 75% will be provided. If the cancellation is requested 15 to 30 days prior to the event, a refund cannot be guaranteed, Wynne Tournaments will do their best to back-fill with other participants, if filled, your full refund will be provided, if not filled, no refund will apply.  We do not accept cancellations one week prior to the event -- at that point, Wynne Tournaments has already paid in full the occupancy rate, food, etc. for the event.

Do I need to rent a car?

You do not have to rent a vehicle if you plan to stay strictly on the resort property. Many participants do rent vehicles because they are a group of four and they want to enjoy the resort surroundings, restaurants, night life, shopping, historic locations, etc. Taxi cabs and shuttles are always available.

How are teams selected to compete against each other?

Prior to the tournament, a random draw will have taken place. A draw sheet will be included in your “Welcome Package” and it will be posted at the tournament location (resort courts).

Is proper tennis attire expected during tournament play?

We do ask that participants wear proper tennis attire and shoes. Please refrain from wearing cut-offs, jean shorts, running shoes, inappropriate clothing.

What is the proper attire for the evening cocktail party?

Anything goes…tennis outfits or casual resort wear is appropriate.

Do you have alternative activities arranged in case of inclement weather?

Yes, we will have plenty of suggestions for things to do at and around the resort and Wynne Tournaments will provide some fun alternative activities as well.

What if my spouse would also like to attend?

The tournaments are for women tennis players only but many times a request is made to bring their spouse.  Yes, they are welcomed.  Wynne Tournaments would price the package specific for a non-playing attendees. Please call Wynne Tournaments for unique pricing and booking.  

Can our team extend the hotel stay pre or post the tournament?

Yes, Wynne Tournaments will book the extension for you.  Please call Wynne Tournaments for unique pricing and booking information.

Can I participate in the tournament but not stay at the hotel?

Yes, some players have access to their own accommodations, others are local participants.  Please call Wynne Tournaments for unique pricing and tournament enrollment.
