Tournament Format:
Tournament play will be based on NTRP individual ranking of 2.5, 3.0, 3.5, 4.0, and 4.5 (see rating details below). Players may play above their ranking, but not below. There will be an individual tournament for each level. The format is based on a four person team. All play is doubles. As a team, you may play with the same partners throughout the tournament or you may switch your teams around. Your four person team will always remain the same; however, your individual doubles teams may change. Example: your team has four players – a,b,c,d – a plays match #1 with player b…a may play all matches with player b or decide to play a match with c or d. In most cases your team will play a total of four rounds in the main draw. They will take place as follows: Friday AM – Round 1 (7:30, 9:15, or 11am) Friday PM – Round 2 (12:45, 2:30, or 4:15pm) Saturday AM – Round 3 (7:30, 9:15, or 11am) Saturday PM – Round 4 (12:45, 2:30, or 4:15pm) * Please note: Tournament format may vary depending on resort package and program. ** All players are required to report to the tournament station (located at the resort courts) at least 15 minutes prior to official match time. Court assignments and ball distribution will be made prior to official match time. Your team will play a total of two matches per round (two teams of doubles). You will receive one team point for each match won. By the end of the all rounds, your team will have a minimum of zero points and a maximum of six-points. The top four teams (16 players) will continue to the final round which will take place on Sunday morning. If there is a tie, finalists will be chosen by 1) games won and 2) games lost. All matches will be chosen by random drawing. Each match has a time limit of 1 hour and 45 minutes. Time will be called 15 minutes prior to time allotment. At that point, players will finish the game they are on and the person who is ahead by two games will be declared the winner of that set. If, at that point, one team is ahead by one game, they will continue. After the next game, a winner is declared or a “sudden death” tie breaker is played to break a tie. All third sets will be played as a “sudden death” tie breaker (see tournament rules for a description of “sudden death” tie breaker). Players making it to the final round on Sunday will play a round robin format. Each team will play each other an eight game pro-set (first team to eight winning by two games). “Sudden Death” tie breakers will be played at seven games all. The team who wins the most games will be determined the winner. If there is a tie, the winner, second place, and third place, will be chosen by 1) games lost. The winning team will receive the first-place prize. There will also be prizes for second and third places (all finalists). The tournament is based on the honor system. Coaching by any outside party is prohibited. Line judges and umpires will not be used. Wynne Tournament staff will help with official rulings. If a team cannot come to an agreement regarding bad calls, scoring mistakes, or other issues, a coin will be tossed to determine the winner of the match after ten minutes of dispute. (**we know this will never happen!) NTRP Rating Information: If you do not have an official NTRP rating, you may use the information below to best determine your status. 2.5
